2nd Annual Project Beauty Campaign

The Project Beauty campaign is my favorite project each year, and this time we really went big by adding an Art Gallery Show. It was a fabulous evening and we raised a lot of money for David’s Legacy!

Project Beauty was started by Thomas Nguyen with a simple mission: “ to redefine how beauty is depicted on social media and to photograph seniors with no makeup and no retouching. The result are images that allow these teens to walk away feeling more confident, empowered than before and showcase what true beauty really is.”

It was a concept that resonated with me and I knew it was the perfect project for my seniors because they wrestle daily with the highs and lows of social media. As part of the project, each participant was asked to answer “What does true beauty mean to you?” Below are a few of my favorite responses:

And then there was the Art Gallery Show! Picasso’s Cellar in Cibolo was the perfect place to show off these gorgeous images. We hung them from the ceiling with each quote so people could walk around and see each one.

Proceeds from the event were donated to The David’s Legacy Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating cyber and other bullying. The foundation was started after David Molak, a student at Alamo Heights High School, committed suicide after being relentlessly bullied on social media. We were honored to have Matt and Maurine Molak, David’s parents, present at our event.
