ROMANTIC STYLE

HALLE HAS A GORGEOUS ROMANTIC LOOK NAILED DOWN~Check this out if you love a soft, feminine style!

I was so excited to see her fashion choices for her senior shoot. The white bell-sleeve top and denim skirt combo is my favorite and she paired it with the cutest blue espadrilles. She took a basic black dress to the next level with the white stitching detail so be sure to check it out.

The locations we chose perfectly complimented her look! We talked a lot about finding the perfect spot and I think we did a great job because she looks like she might be in a garden in Italy.

Halle’s sister Brittany did her makeup and she did a beautiful job as always (Brittany is one of my preferred makeup artists, when you book with me you’ll receive her contact details!)

Now lets check out these awesome outfits!

Halle is one of my busiest seniors; she is involved in CBN, DECA, the Clemens Cheer team, she is a BVYA cheer Coach, and currently serves as Miss Schertz 2019. For college she is deciding between Texas A&M and UT Austin, but I know whatever she chooses, she will be amazing and kill it!

3 Beautiful Wall Displays for your home

One of the most difficult decisions we make is how to decorate our homes with pictures.  Some questions you might have are:  How many?  What color should the frames be?  Will it match what you already have?

I'm here to help!  I don't send my clients home with only half the job done, I will help you choose images, frames, wall locations and even the correct sizes, so all you will need to do is accept the compliments that are headed your way.

There are so many options, from frames to canvases to metal art.  Today I'm featuring three of my most popular frame galleries:

This 4-piece arrangement is perfect over a small side table. If your space is a little bigger we can add additional frames, but I love the simplicity of just four stunning images.

Visitors to my studio have seen this gallery in person, which might be the reason it's my best seller!

This 9-up collection is bold, timeless and perfect for a contemporary display.

Almost every client chooses at least one wall portrait, but if wall art isn't for you that's ok too.  I have albums and half a dozen other display pieces that you'll love.  It just takes a phone call to get you started on your way to portrait happiness.  Let's chat!

My Senior model team has grown year after year, and this year I'm incredibly happy to have nine AMAZING girls to represent Ever After Photography at four different schools in and around San Antonio. Please welcome Lauren Hickman, Clemens High School class of 2016!

Lauren is a 5'3" bundle of sweetness and joy.  Her favorite things in her closet are her shoes (see below for a peak!), and she has a flawless sense of style (again, see below!!).  Lauren is featured below wearing two of my favorite styles for this year, an open knit, sleeveless lace tank and a casual, perfect-for-South-Texas romper with a fabulous wide-brimmed hat.

I am thrilled to have Lauren on the Ever After Model Team for this year, she truly makes my heart sing.

2015 Ever After Senior Spokesmodels | Ever After Photography | San Antonio TX Senior Photographer

Wow!  The first group session for my 2015 Senior Spokesmodels was amazing!  We had a few hiccups with props and locations, but in the end I am completely thrilled with the images of these fabulous kids! This year for the first time ever, I am collaborating with an amazing hair and makeup artist for my senior sessions.  Kara Brumgard is a genius, with exactly the right touch for each session.  The theme for our group session was an All-American picnic at the lake, so Kara's job was to polish up the girls while keeping their looks simple and fresh.  Oh. My Goodness.

Location, location...

One of the most important decisions I have during a session is where to place my subjects.  It might seem like a no-brainer; the nearest waterfall, fountain or scenic landscape should work just fine.  But much to the frustration of many of my clients, that is usually not where I put them, and the reason is because I am looking for the best LIGHT, not the best background.

So what does this mean for your session?  It means that I might place you in front of the graffiti-covered service doors  instead of the gorgeous, carved wood double doors at the Pearl Brewery:

Pearl

Or as we are walking toward the majestic Guadalupe River, I might stop and place you on the dirty ground in the weeds:

Sometimes the best light is not at the edge of the river.
Sometimes the best light is not at the edge of the river.

There has even been a time that I had to completely change the entire location of a family session at the last second, because I arrived a few minutes early and discovered that there was not a single angle that would work for well-lit pictures in front of a stunning waterfall.  So instead, we went to a nearby church and took family portraits in the parking lot:

The best light is not always the same place as the best background.
The best light is not always the same place as the best background.

If you have a location in mind for your next session, the best thing to do is to let me know the reason you chose it.  If you absolutely must have the waterfall in the background, sharing that information with me will allow me to suggest a different day or time for your session to take place.  But if the most important thing to you is to have well-lit images of the ones you love, then of course the background is secondary and we can work according to wherever the best light is.

My rule of thumb is: If you pick the location, I pick the time.  If you pick the time, I pick the location.

I try to be as flexible as possible, and I use every trick that I have at my disposal to get the shot even in difficult lighting situations, but I can't get great images from horrible light.  That is the reason that for me, light trumps background every time.

Until next time,

Leah

Skyler, Alyssa, Erika & Madeline | Arizona Senior Portraits Class of 2014

Each spring, I travel to Phoenix to photograph a few high school seniors. It's always a whirlwind of a weekend for me, with almost back-to-back sessions for three days, and I love every minute of it!

I have the most beautiful and well-dressed clients in town. Want proof? Just check out my latest AZ seniors!

Having lived in Gilbert for 3 years, I also got to visit with some of my best friends, eat at my favorite restaurants and soak in some AZ sunshine.  I already have a couple of sessions lined up for next year and can't wait!

Ramey | Johnson High School Senior Portraits

After cancelling our morning session due to heavy wind, I met up with senior Ramey Deshotel and her mom later in the day to be faced with - you got it - heavy wind. Ramey and her mom Dawn have a busy, busy schedule, and this was the only day that was going to work so we made the best of it!  In our favor was the fact that Ramey chose to do her portraits at the Pearl Brewery, which has many nooks and crannies to duck into, and a rare day of gorgeous sunshine.

Ramey has such a relaxed and carefree way about her that made it a fun session for all of us. She is very quick to smile and laugh, and she does a really good serious face, a skill that you either have or you don't!

Ramie plans to use her images in her graduation cards, so the design work will begin in a few days. I can't wait to see how they turn out!

Until next time, Leah

Jasmine | San Antonio Senior Portraits

It isn't often that I visit downtown San Antonio, even though I'm only a hop, skip and a jump away, and it's even more rare for me to do a portrait session there. But during Jasmine's session consultation we discussed many different looks and locations and finally decided that the city would suit her perfectly. And boy, did it! Jasmine and her mom did a phenomenal job with her outfits. They had a bit of controversy over the white outfit because I specifically said "no white outfits!," but it was actually off-white, which isn't as bad, and it was AMAZING, so I had to approve. I love every outfit, I always do though and that is one of the things I love about senior portraits.

Nicole | San Antonio Senior Portraits

I first met with Nicole and her mom Melissa waaay back in January to talk about doing her Senior Portraits. We had the hardest time settling on a date to do the session because Nicole is an incredibly busy girl, but we finally settled on a Sunday afternoon in early February. Then it rained poured buckets. Melissa and I emailed back and forth for weeks, trying to find another date that all three of us were free, and FINALLY everything came together at the very end of April. Beautifully, I must say.

Nicole is a natural beauty, and one of the sweetest girls I've ever worked with. I think this was the first time I've ever had a both a mom AND dad come out for a senior session, which truly said something about the awesome relationship Nicole has with them.

Last night I went to their home for Nicole's Session Premier, and the entire family was there, supporting Nicole and excited to see her portraits. It was a great night as we ate decadent chocolate cupcakes and watched the slideshow, and then had tons of input into choosing images.

I wish you the very best Nicole! I know you are going to do amazing things with the love and support you have from your family.San Antonio Senior portraits at a country location near Garden Ridge, Texas.

SHAWNA | SAN ANTONIO SENIOR PORTRAITS

My beautiful niece, Shawna, is graduating from Johnson High School this year, and I can't seem to wrap my head around it!  When my husband and I met, Shawna was only 3 years old, a tiny little thing.  The first thing I noticed about her was her unbelievably long eyelashes.  Ah, I would love to have her lashes.  And her hair.  And her teeny waist. Sigh.  Just to be 18 again would be so amazing.  Lucky, lucky girl!

The morning of our session was the most beautiful sunshiney day, but by the time we got out to our location and started shooting it was completely overcast, which darkened the sky almost too much.  Even though we got some great shots, we're planning another session in a few days to supplement these
